Delete Yelp Account With These Easy Steps
If you’re here, you’re probably wondering one thing:
How To Delete A Personal Or Business Yelp Account
SO, you want to know HOW to delete Yelp account?
Well, there are two ways you can get this done depending on whether you have a personal or business account. So let’s begin by going over how you can remove a personal account from Yelp.
Removing A Personal Profile From Yelp
Follow the steps below for Yelp account closure:
1. Log In To Your Yelp Account
Go to your Yelp account and simply log in. This is the first step in deleting a personal profile from Yelp and saying “see ya!” to your least favorite online platform!
If you are not logged in now, you can easily access the login page on Yelp by clicking on this link- https://www.yelp.com/
You will see, in the upper right corner there will be two tabs. One will say “sign up” and the other “log in”. You will hover and click the button that says “log in”.
You can refer to the above screenshot to see where the login hyperlink is.
Be careful to enter your information correctly. In order to successfully close your personal Yelp account, you will need to be logged into it.
Now in the event that you have forgotten your Yelp login information, you can click the link that says “Forgot password?”. You will then be redirected to a page where you will be prompted to enter your email address to reset your password for your Yelp account.
2. Locate Your Profile
Once you are successfully logged in, find your Yelp account profile.
If you click the arrow on the right side of your profile pic, you will see a drop down menu. Here you can click on the profile name you set for your account, and on the left side bar, click “reviews”. Here, you will want to do a full assessment of all of your personal activity on Yelp. This is not necessary, however I like to remove any reviews or pictures that I don’t want available online prior to closing my account.
YOU MAY WANT TO ASK YOURSELF: Are there any reviews or photos that need to be immediately removed while your account removal is processing? If so, you can simply click on trash can icon in the lower right hand corner of the review panel.
Continue and click this icon to remove each review you want to immediately remove from Yelp.
BE AWARE: When you click the trash can icon to delete your Yelp review, a pop-up will appear. The pop-up will prompt you to answer why you are taking this action. This is nothing to be alarmed by. Simply check the answer which best fits your reason, or check other and manually type in the reason that you are removing the Yelp review.
3. Deactivate Your Account
Finally, and once you have removed all things that need immediate attention, you can visit this link: https://www.yelp.com/support/contact/account_closure/
to close your account for good.
If you would like to do it manually, here’s how you can do it:
Scroll down to the bottom of the page and in the footer widget area, you will see a hyperlink that says “support”. It is in the second column from the left under “Discover”.
See the screenshot below as a reference:
Once you have clicked that hyperlink, you will be redirected to a page. In the upper portion of the page there will be search bar that says “what can we help you with?” Here, you will enter the words “close account” and hit “search support”.
From here, you will be take to a page where you will see search results. The first search result will say “how do I close my account?” Click this.

Removing A Business Profile From Yelp
WE UNDERSTAND THE DILEMMA YOUR IN― leaving your business on yelp (with the negative reviews) is killing your business, right? And removing it isn’t a good option either because your customers are online.
THE GOOD NEWS IS THS: You actually have several doable options. (And not all of them are closing your account!).
NOW I’M SURE YOU MAY HAVE BEEN TOLD DIFFERENTLY. But you can fix your yelp account and remove those nasty reviews. Find out how.
But let’s begin with how you would close a business Yelp account.
Follow Steps 1-3 From The Previous Section
Now let’s revisit the section above “removing a personal profile from Yelp”. When you get to step 3, click the “support” hyperlink (as described in the previous set of instructions).
You will be taken to a page and prompted to enter the support question you have. Again, you can enter “close Yelp account”.
You will be redirected to a page which shows search results that answer your inquiry “close Yelp account”. In the search results you should see that the first result that says “how do I close my account”.
Once you have clicked on that option, you will be redirected to the page below:
Although you do have the choice to unclaim your business listing, this does not remove the listing from Yelp.
YOU HAVE TWO CHOICES FOR REMOVING A BUSINESS PROFILE:
If you still want to pursue closing your Yelp business account, here are your two options:
*Appeal to Yelp
You can contact their support center through the website dashboard and make your case. If they consider your case to be extreme, Yelp may remove your business. But more often than not, they won’t. Here’s why:
To maintain its stance on removing business listings, Yelp states on its website as follows:
“Yelp publishes business listing information so that consumers can share their experiences about local businesses, and because the information is typically a matter of public record and public concern. Therefore, we don’t remove such information from the site.
While we understand that some business owners might prefer to keep a low profile, it’s important (and a legal right) for consumers to be able to find and share helpful information about great local businesses.”
* Take legal action
no one takes a letter from a lawyer lightly. It costs about $5,000 to $10,000 to hire attorneys who specializes in this; it could also take a few months to have your business removed.
Yes, we know! It looks cumbersome and practically impossible. But it isn’t. Although it definitely isn’t ideal.
A Solution For Business Owners:
Yelp, Your Business, and Your Company’s Future
ASK YOURSELF THIS:
Have you been worried about yelp reviews? Do you feel you are being judged wrongfully by the social media community? If this is the case, a lot of people unfortunately are also in the same boat.
YOU’RE NOT ALONE
It’s a common feeling to be worried if you are a business owner with a yelp account. Many people ask “how do I delete Yelp if my account isn’t benefiting me in a positive way?”.
Although there are ways to remove an account permanently, you may not want to do so. Yelp is an excellent platform for business owners to use, whether their reviews are good or not.
YELP FILTERS REVIEWS
As strange as it may sound, Yelp filters reviews. Most people are aware of this fact, so Yelp’s credibility as an unbiased resource is on the decline.
You might be wondering, how can I get Yelp to not filter my reviews. Well, (as unethical as it may sound), paying them for marketing is said to help.
Other things that are said to help reviews not get filtered:
- uploading a picture and including it in the review
- posting from a location near the business or at least within the same state
- including employee’s names in the review (which might also be included in the business profile
- having elite members post reviews whenever possible
Today, an average consumer looks online first for whatever service or products they need
THERE’S ANOTHER PART TO ALL OF THIS: Your competitors are online too!
Skilled internet marketing agencies can usually make the bad reviews go away with a combination of reputation management and SEO while continuing to strengthen your online presence.
How It Works:
With search engine optimization, you can push Yelp out of the picture and negate a lot of what potential customers see about your business online. You don’t know much about SEO― learn more here
